The House of Metaxa, renowned for producing the smoothest spirit under the sun, has revolutionized the packaging design in the premium spirits industry with their METAXA ON-METAL. This design, unlike the conventional rectangular or cylindrical metal boxes, features a curved and smooth metal showcase that echoes the smoothness of the METAXA spirit. The inspiration for this unique design did not come from the metal box industry, but rather from metal techniques and finishes used in automobile production.
The METAXA ON-METAL design is not only visually striking but also environmentally conscious. The metal box is designed to use the least possible metal, with a top that integrates a waving design to avoid the need for a second sheet of metal. The design also allows for no waste of space on the shelf or in transportation, unlike cylindrical boxes. Furthermore, the material is 100% recyclable, and the boxes are reusable, serving as the alcoves of a cellar when placed horizontally.
The design's unique properties extend beyond its shape and material use. The finish is in METAXA yellow, blue, and white colors, and the metal presents a “wax” effect similar to that of a high-performing automobile. The signature, brand name, and other codes are embossed or debossed, adding texture to the metal and creating a visually magnetic effect, especially when multiple boxes are placed on a shelf.
The METAXA ON-METAL design was realized using various varnishes on the metal box, further enhancing its aesthetic appeal. It's no surprise that this innovative design was awarded the Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2014, an accolade granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
In conclusion, the METAXA ON-METAL design by The House of Metaxa is a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming the packaging industry. By drawing inspiration from outside the box, or rather, outside the industry, The House of Metaxa has created a product that is not only visually appealing but also environmentally friendly and functional.
